Nescafé Treehouse | Kamishihoro, Japan
Treehouse guru Takashi Kobayashi built this back in 1993 for a Japanese TV commercial. It’s 12 feet off of the ground, 9 feet in diameter, and sits in a field that supplies a stunning view all year round. All told, it cost $38,000 to build. Unfortunately, it’s off limits to visitors who aren’t birds, termites, or bark.

Hogwart’s Treehouse | Edinburgh, Scotland
Our first reaction was to dump on this simply because it’s a Harry Potter thing, but even we have to admit that it’s pretty cool. It comes with rope bridges, giant spiral staircases, turrets, and trap doors. That’s right — trap doors. The recently constructed $230,000 outpost actually belongs to Harry Potter’s stage mom, JK Rowling, making her kids the most popular in school.
