Ancient Cities Wiped Out By Disasters

Atlantis may be more well known, but it isn’t the only sunken city to puzzle researchers and explorers. Japan has its very own city that was lost underwater off the coast of Yonaguni Jima more than 2,000 years ago. For some reason the Japanese government won’t officially recognize the ruins as a real city, but in addition to submerged structures, marks in the stone, and characters etched into the rock, researchers have discovered an 82-foot pyramid and a sphinx-like sculpture. What sunk the city? Considering its location, a tsunami and/or an earthquake are a pretty safe bet.
