John Carpenter’s classic Halloween was an independent film with a tiny budget, so wardrobe had to be creative. Michael Myers’ now iconic mask was simply a spray painted version of a Captain Kirk mask purchased for $1.98. Also, multiple people wore the mask, including Carpenter, co-writer Debra Hill, and Nick Castle.

Also, Halloween was the first film role for actress Jaime Lee Curtis, who’d later reconnect with Carpenter in 1980’s The Fog. Also worthy of note for horny guys and their boners — you get to see Curtis’ boobs in 1983’s Trading Places. An added bonus: the movie stars Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd and is funny as hell.
