Not the hippie, free-love ’60s (though longhairs looking for a trim are welcome), but the shirt-and-tie-wearing ’60s; not coincidentally, the barbers here all wear black ties and white coats. Prices are reasonable and the menu is simple: A haircut is $18, a buzz cut is $13, and a beard trim is $10. But just because the shop keeps it simple and pays tribute to the good ol’ days doesn’t mean you’ll be unable to get today’s most stylish cuts. Just don’t try to make an appointment — Avenue Barbershop doesn’t take them, so it’s first-come, first-served.
