Do We Really Need Another
Zombie Movie?

PRO: THEY MAKE FOR THE BEST VIDEO GAMES!
No monster suits video games’ need for cannon fodder better than our favorite gray-skinned antagonists, which is why the zombie game sub-sub-genre shows no signs of slowing down. There is something endlessly satisfying about taking aim at a groaning cadaver and blowing its brains across a 1080i screen. When’s the last time you played a video game about found-footage ghosts? Exactly.

CON: THEY ARE CLICHÉ MAGNETS!
No matter how clever you are at the start of your zombie movie, slowly but surely you will paint yourself into a corner of obvious and in some ways unavoidable cliché faster than any other horror subgenre. Your hero will form a loose confederate of survivor comrades (whom he may or may not trust entirely), they will all hole up in structures with varying degrees of security, at some point a member of the crew will die and “come back” inside said structure, and at least three noble sacrifices will be called for.
