We asked a doctor to explain how alcohol affects the body when people get drunk. We plan to test his explanation for accuracy.

“Once alcohol hits the stomach and small intestine, it will begin to absorb into the bloodstream,” Dr. Urschel adds. Here’s where that healthy pre-game meal of buffalo wings, nachos, and breaded pig’s ass can pay off. “If you’ve eaten before drinking, less alcohol will be absorbed. If the stomach is empty, all of the alcohol will be absorbed more quickly,” he adds.
