#4. ASSIGN TIME TO TASKS
Making a list isn’t going to cut it. It’ll help, but you can still get overloaded. Along with ranking your responsibilities in terms of most important to least important. Whether it’s responding to emails or phone calls, or dotting the i’s on your TPS reports, figure out how long you can realistically spend on each task. That might take trial and error or keeping an Activity Log (you can find out more about those here).

And if you find you are in fact too overloaded, speak up. Taking on too much to “prove” yourself isn’t a smart move career-wise; it’s setting yourself up for failure. So while you might think asking your manager to delegate a few things to other teammates is irresponsible or shirking your duties, it’s the opposite.
