How To Piss People Off On 9/11

GILBERT GOTTFRIED’S TOO-SOON FRIAR’S CLUB JOKE (2001)
Comedian Gilbert Gottfried was roasted by … well, pretty much everyone for a 9/11 joke he told during the Friar’s Club Roast of Hugh Heffner in 2001 … three weeks after the attacks. Here’s what Gottfriend said: “I have to leave early tonight. I’m flying to L.A. I couldn’t get a direct flight. We have to make a stop at the Empire State Building.”

People were all “Too soon!” Which is fine. But Gottfried handled the subsequent boos he received by launching into his version of The Aristocrats, which if you’ve never heard it, is extremely offensive — and hilarious — in a different way. (It’s at the top of the page, but use headphones if you’re at work or in the presence of children or the elderly.)
