Throwing a Party
Attack of the Show host Kevin Pereira promises music, booze, and Slave Leias at leetUP, a party he says will be a nerd paradise.

Our friend Kevin Pereira, host of G4′s Attack of the Show, has a plan: Throw a gigantic party … for nerds. The event, which he’s calling leetUP and which takes place in Los Angeles on March 1, will feature guests like Kevin Smith and Greg Fitzsimmons, live music, tech demos, videogames, and the like. We caught up with Pereira to ask him an important question:
Why the hell are you doing this?
I love every guest, every musical performer, the gaming, the prizes we’re giving away — you name it. I wanted to bring all of this together under one roof, for one night, and see if people dig it. If they do, we’ll take the show on the road to cities across the country.
There’s CES, there’s Comic-Con, there’s … other various Cons. Why do nerds need leetUP?
It’s a party. We’ve cherry-picked our favorite aspects from those other events, added a handful of bacon and unicorns, and blended until the event is drinkable through a straw. Maybe you want to dress up as Guile from Street Fighter and watch Kevin Smith and Doug Benson talk about their favorite medicinal strain of pot. Great. Or maybe you want to double-fist alcoholic beverages, dance along to VJ Mike Relm, and vomit on a Pac-Man arcade machine — well, come on down!
Whew, so there will be alcohol?
There will be! Two giant bars. You can drink until the Slave Leia in front of you turns into three slightly blurrier Slave Leias.
You’re guaranteeing girls at this thing?
There will be many dicks on the dance floor, but I know a sizeable group of girls who are attending and plan on dressing up cosplay-style as their favorite game and movie characters.
You can buy tickets at leetUP.com.
