The KFC Rat, Wendy’s Thumb, and Other Hoaxes You Should Revisit

KFC hoax victoria

KFC Boots A Little Girl Because She’s Ugly | 2014

In 2014 the family of three-year-old Victoria Wilcher claimed that KFC employees in Mississippi asked them to remove the tike from the building. Was she yelling, crying, or talking too loudly on her cell phone? Nope, she was ugly. Due to facial disfigurement she suffered from a pit bull attack, Her’s what Wilcher’s grandmother told the media shortly after the story was picked up by every news outlet on the planet:

“I took her to the doctor and I went to KFC. I ordered a large sweet tea and her some mashed potatoes and gravy because she was hungry. She was on a feeding tube at the time, but I figured she could just swallow [the potatoes],” Mullins said. “They just told us, they said, ‘We have to ask you to leave because her face is disrupting our customers.’ [Victoria] understood exactly what they said.”

Needless to say, people were super pissed at Col. Sanders for being an insensitive prick. In response, KFC offered $30,000 to Victoria, and an outpouring of support from the internet raised over $135,000. Warms your heart, right? Well, it was all bullshit as the episode was proven to be fraudulent.

Security footage from KFC and a nearby hospital found inconsistencies with parts of Grandma’s story. Also, there was no record of the order Granny said she placed. In other words, Victoria’s family is full of shit. In the end, KFC still honored their donation of $30 grand, but will someday have to explain to Victoria that her grandmother was a despicable liar.

hoax mcdonalds african american

McDonald’s Loves Racism | 2010

In 2010, a photo began circulating the internet that showed a notice at a McDonald’s concerning an additional $1.50 that African-American patrons would be charged as “insurance” against robberies. Not realizing that human beings on our planet have things like Photoshop and printers, the media ceased on the story and across the internet the story flew.

Of course, shortly afterward, McDonald’s immediately addressed the image, verifying it was false. They said they’d only charge Mexican Americans the $1.50 (just kidding).

xbox one 4chan hoax

Xbox One | 2013

A number of Xbox One owners were tricked by a 2013 4chan post that promised “backward compatibility” — whatever the hell that is — by following a set of instructions. (Think of it as the modern version of the Konami Code.) Instead, the sequence would send the Xbox One  into endless reboot.

For those who have lives and don’t spend their days surfing the internet, 4chan is an image-based site that will show you everything from leaked nude pics of celebrities, close-up shots of balls and boobs, and posts about how virgins are awful. Microsoft issued a warning against the official-looking post, and encouraged Xbox owners not to try it. Of course, some idiots still didn’t listen. We’re sure you can read all about it on Reddit.
