The Manliest Manly Performances In Football History

Ray Lewis
The Baltimore Ravens linebacker has been a one-man wrecking crew for more than a decade — though teammates like Ed Reed have done more than their fair share of wrecking too. Lewis is so fearsome, in fact, that his opponents’ fear of him can change the course of a game before Lewis even makes a tackle. And he always makes tackles. It’s pretty much impossible to choose his best: maybe just last year when he leveled the Tennessee Titans’ Ahmard Hall deep in Titans territory during a playoff game. Or the time he stuffed the San Diego Chargers’ Darren Sproles on a crucial 4th-down play that effectively ended a game. But our vote has to be the 2009 play in which he hit Chad Ochocinco so hard that the outspoken wideout temporarily thought his name was Chad Johnson. Lewis was penalized for the hit … but the highlight was well worth 15 yards.
