Tom Arnold, Arnold’s co-star in True Lies, was the event’s MC. His job was to warm-up the crowd. Or try to. After a decent start, Tom’s material fizzled. Thankfully he only had to buy time for a few minutes.
Shortly before Tom arrived, I spoke to a publicist about getting an interview with Arnold. She was short with dark hair, cute, and polite. And she politely told me that my odds of scoring an interview with Arnold were as likely as my chances at winning the Mr. Universe crown. Which was too bad, because I had some excellent questions for him: What do you bench these days? What’s the biggest mistake you ever made … er, in terms of weight training? Who’d win a prison fight — you or Stallone? Will you please do your best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression for me?
