Hell or High Water (2016)
Certainly not your run-of-the-mill, bank robbery story. This one’s a little bit more complex in terms of plot structure and backstory. Unlike most heist movies, this one carries off a slower, more serious tone. It centers on two brothers Toby and Tanner, ordinary dudes from Texas, who team up to pull off a series of robberies. Each time they rob, they hit a Texas Midlands Bank in order to raise cash to pay a loan so Toby’s sons may inherit a real estate. Every time they hit a bank, Texas Ranger Marcus Hamilton is one step behind, drawing closer to catching them. Directed by David Mackenzie (“Starred Up” and “Perfect Sense”), the movie stars Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges… and others.
