Parties are a lot of fun, and no guy can deny that fact. However, dressing for one can be a bit of a chore. When it comes to party attire for men, what do you need to know?
Casual Parties
The clothes you wear depend upon the style of the party. At a casual affair, you still do not want to show up in sweatpants and a raggedy t-shirt. Instead, opt for a pair of jeans and a button-down shirt or a plain colored t-shirt. Generally, sneakers or flip-flops are acceptable at these types of parties; however, you may want to opt for a nice pair of sneakers to play it safe.

Dressy Casual/Business Casual
Typically this calls for a fancier version of casual clothes. Replace your normal jeans with khakis or jeans with a dark wash, and definitely wear a collared shirt. Consider throwing on a blazer to complete the look. Shoes should be close-toed and nice-looking.
Formal Parties
Most formal parties are weddings, and men are typically expected to wear suits. Typically the invite will suggest what type of attire you should wear. For other formal occasions, gauge how formal it is based on the location. For example, if it’s at a reception hall, you may still wear a suit. If the party is in a backyard, then you could opt for some nice khaki pants and a polo shirt.
Black Tie Affairs
If you receive an invitation that states everyone must wear black tie attire, then you really need to rent or buy a tuxedo. A black suit might be acceptable, but you also may feel out of place in it.
