Different Ending
Season 6 of Cheers was actually supposed to wrap up with Sam potentially being diagnosed with HIV. Eventually this particular story was canned after the Writers Guild of America went on strike (1988). In this script, Sam was supposed to discover that one of his former girlfriends was HIV positive.
