Every American War in a Hundred Words or Less

US Iraq

U.S. v. IRAQ | IRAQ WAR (2003-2011)
The internal coup hoped for after the Gulf War never materialized, leaving Saddam Hussein in power and giving proponents of his ouster during the first go round a do-over.

Responding to the September 11th terror attacks  — stop us if you’ve heard this before — and eventually fruitless claims of stockpiled chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, President George W. Bush authorized the use of force in Iraq. The U.S. seized Baghdad within three weeks, but the resultant insurgency has lasted 10 years, emboldened by the 2011 withdrawal of troops by the U.S., which is still waiting for its oil checks.
