Every American War in a Hundred Words or Less

Spanish-American-War

U.S. v. SPAIN | SPANISH-AMERICAN WAR (1898)
Following the sinking off Havana of the USS Maine — which may actually have blown itself up for all anyone knows — the U.S. demanded that occupying Spanish forces surrender control of Cuba or risk war. Spain called, we raised, and within two and a half months the Spanish were demoralized.

Fought in the Caribbean and South Pacific, it was really more of an all-inclusive war cruise, concluding with the Treaty of Paris, which granted the U.S. temporary control of Cuba, and indefinite authority over Guantanamo Bay, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines for some reason because screw you, Spain.
