Go back and watch A New Hope and tell us you can’t see a vague similarity between Ford and Franco, like the smile or the slow, deliberate delivery. If Franco can tone down his freakiness (which he absolutely can), he can pull this off. Unfortunately, he comes with baggage; hiring him also means the producers would be contractually obligated to make Seth Rogen Chewbacca.
ARMIE HAMMER | ODDS: 30 to 1
Three things are strongly in Hammer’s favor. 1) He looks the part. 2) He isn’t well-known enough to cause fanboys to riot. 3) He already has a foot in the door at Disney thanks to his involvement in the upcoming Lone Ranger. Plus, this wouldn’t be his first brush with iconic antiheroes; Hammer was ridiculously close — we’re talking had-a-costume-fitting close — to donning Batman’s cape and cowl in director George Miller’s ill-fated Justice League movie.
