The Lone Gunmen
The Lone Gunmen is an intriguing piece of storytelling from X-Files writers and producers Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz and Vince Gilligan (who was to pen Breaking Bad further down the road). In short, yeah, this is an X-Files spin-off telling the story of conspiracy experts John F. Byers (Bruce Harwood), Melvin Frohike (Tom Braidwood) and Richard ‘Ringo’ Langly (Dean Haglund) who endeavor to uncover the deepest of government conspiracies. After receiving solid reviews, the series’ popularity plummeted following the premiere episode. The show was pretty solid, although it quickly became notorious for being extremely similar to the events of 9/11 (i.e. the attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11).
