3. It breeds greatness
You may not have used coffee to do much more than finish B.S. term papers or churn out the last of your TPS reports. But others have used it to do some pretty great things. “The scientific revolution began with coffee-house discussions, and Isaac Newton wrote his Philosophiæ Naturalis Principia Mathematica, the foundation of modern physics, to resolve a coffee-house argument about the nature of gravity,” Standage says. “And The London Stock Exchange grew out of a coffee house called Jonathan’s.”
4. Even the good stuff is relatively cheap
Like wine, coffees are tasted and rated by connoisseurs according to body, aroma, acidity, flavor, and aftertaste. The difference is that top-rated coffee, like Sumatra Gayoland bean from Indonesia ($20 and up @ Amazon.com) or Cafe Don Pablo Italian Espresso Coffee,($14 @ Amazon.com) don’t cost hundreds of dollars more than the cheap stuff.
