Trans Fats

Their main function is to extend the shelf life of processed foods like cookies, cakes, fries, and donuts. They’re actually unsaturated fats that can raise LDL (bad) cholesterol levels while lowering HDL (good) cholesterol levels. Of course, this is opposite of what you need in order to maintain good heart health. Any item that contains “hydrogenated oil” or partially hydrogenated oil” likely contain trans-fat, which tips you off to avoid these fats and the foods they’re in. Although, these are being phased out of foods in the near future, so I’ve stopped giving a shit about trans fats.page
