Blame Getting The Munchies On Your Nose

If you enjoy toking up you’ve probably experienced the munchies — an uncontrollable urge to eat every edible, non-healthy thing within arm’s reach — a few times. Turns out, according to research from the University of Bordeaux in France, a heightened sense of smell could be responsible for you destroying the Funyons.

The scientists found that THC — the active ingredient in marijuana — activated cannabinoid receptors and amplified the olfactory in mice. Their research found that stoned mice sniffed banana and almond oil longer than mice who weren’t high on the pot-weed. The stoners also ate more when they had the chance. No word on whether their use of the word “dude” increased.
