6. IT’S ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST!
Don’t buy the Native American thing? Try this one on for size: Jack uses an Adler typewriter, which is German-made and features a very Reichy looking eagle on the front. The typewriter also changes colors throughout the movie, which people feel was meant to draw attention to it. The number 42 is often used in reference to the Holocaust (1942 was the year of the Final Solution), and it appears on a sweatshirt Danny wears. In addition, Wendy swings her baseball bat at Jack 42 times — yep, someone counted — and Danny and Wendy briefly watch the film The Summer of ’42.
