Your wallet is going to take a hit when you own a dog. Most purebred dogs from reputable breeders go for $1,000 and up. (Adopting a dog is way cheaper.) Vets can get expensive. And trust us, if Fido is sick, and he needs that operation, you’ll do just about anything to pay for it. So please, for your own sake, make sure you’re financially secure enough to own a dog before you find yourself heading down to Tijuana to auction off a kidney.
