Our 11 Favorite Giants Of All Time

Best Giants of All Time: 50-Foot Woman

8. THE 50 FT. WOMAN
Nancy Archer was just your average rich alkie until she came into contact with a glowing alien spaceship in the California desert in the 1958 movie Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. Then she mutated  into a 50-foot giant and went on a destructive rampage fueled by her husband’s infidelity. In the end, it took a blown powerline to electrocute Archer, but not before she dropped a ceiling beam on the husband’s mistress and squished him in the palm of her hand. Ain’t love grand?

Best Giants of All Time: Little John

9. LITTLE JOHN
Legend has it that, before joining the Merry Men, Little John beat Robin Hood in a fight to prove his worth. Is it true? Who cares. What we do know is that the gigantic sidekick — the “Little” is meant to be ironical, as he was said to be taller than seven feet — helped Robin steal from the rich to give to the poor, was extremely loyal, and had an enormous … heart.

Best Giants of All Time: Frankenstein's Monster

10. FRANKENSTEIN’S MONSTER
Played or voiced by everyone from Robert De Niro to Kevin “Here Comes The Boom” James, Frankenstein’s monster — the 8-foot giant sporting neck bolts, scars, and a bad hairdo — is one of literature and film’s most enduring titans. Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel gave birth to Frankenstein, and he’s since appeared in more than 40 movies, not counting the upcoming Bruce Campbell masterpiece, Bruce vs. Frankenstein.

Best Giants of All Time: Charles

11. CHARLES BYRNE
Legend has it that Charles “The Irish Giant” Byrne (born in 1761) was conceived on top of a haystack, resulting in his then-freakish 7’ 7” height. Why that would result in a giant, we have no idea, but Ireland in the 18th Century must have been unimaginably backward. Byrne was regarded as such an oddity in his home country that upon his death, surgeons reportedly surrounded his home to get a chance to examine the corpse. It wasn’t until 2011, through the ongoing examination of his skeleton, that a cause of his mutant gigantism was revealed — a pituitary tumor.
