The Six Greatest Trick Football Plays In Movies

#2. THE ANNEXATION OF PUERTO RICO | LITTLE GIANTS (1994)
The QB hikes the ball and pretends to run a play while the center, who actually has the ball, runs toward the end zone amidst the confusion.

Who Ran It?
Danny O’Shea’s (Rick Moranis) team of pee-wee misfits, the Little Giants, used this play to beat the heavily favored Pee-Wee Cowboys, who are coached by his O’Shea’s brother and Heisman Trophy winner Kevin O’Shea (Ed O’Neil). Their version also featured a handful of laterals as the twerps ran downfield, but the play was still given a thumbs up from turducken lover/commentator John Madden.

Does It Work?
It’s rare, but this play worked for the Carolina Panthers in a 2011 game with the Texans. They even called it The Annexation of Puerto Rico.
