When you first saw Quentin Tarantino’s classic crime thriller, the ending seemed pretty straightforward, didn’t it? But answer this: Does Mr. Pink (Steve Buscemi) get away? It’s open for debate — he appears to escape after the final Mexican standoff takes out Nice Guy Eddie and Joe and mortally wounds Mr. White. A few moments later, the cops burst in and Mr. White shoots the dying Mr. Orange before getting gunned down by the cops himself.
But if you listen closely (Blu-ray digital sound helps) you can hear the sounds of Mr. Pink attempting to drive off, getting stopped by the cops, exchanging gunfire, and getting arrested. So the answer is: Mr. Pink does survive, but he doesn’t get away.
