Former child star Neil Patrick Harris’ story is not tragic, just typical — he got huge because of Doogie Howser, M.D. and then struggled to find big time gigs once his voice broke. After a winking, self-deprecating turn in the stoner comedy Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Harris snagged a plum TV gig on How I Met Your Mother before boldly risked derailing his newly-kickstarted career by coming out as a gay man and getting married while same-sex marriage was still the hot-button topic across the country. Luckily, it’s only served to make this anti-Bonaduce more embraced and loved (the adorable family Facebook photos don’t hurt).
