How It Could Kill You
In order to function properly, your body needs to maintain a certain temperature. So exposing it to rapid and extreme temperature changes can really do a number on your morning routine. Just ask a 62-year-old man who died in 2008 when he was forced to take a freezing-cold shower in a Chinese labor camp. Still, that’s likely not the worst thing to occur in that shower.
But Will It Actually Kill You?
Eh, probably not … although your chances apparently go up dramatically if you’re an elderly Chinese criminal. Your body has a much easier time maintaining homeostasis — basically, that means normal functioning no matter what the weather’s like — when you’re in good physical condition. Yet another reason to get in shape.
