The Staple: Chips Ahoy Chunky (1 cookie = 80 calories/4 fat grams)
The Swap: Pepperidge Farm Bordeaux (1 cookie = 32 calories/1 fat gram)
The Savings: Perhaps it’s no coincidence that the Chips Ahoy cookies are called “chunky.” It wouldn’t take too many to become just that. A better choice when you’re looking for a sweet crispy treat is the Bordeaux. Not only is it a more mature selection, but you could eat three cookies for nearly the same caloric punch.
The Scoop: You have to be careful when swapping out your go-to cookie for a seemingly better choice. Oftentimes, as is the case with Chips Ahoy Reduced Fat chocolate chip cookies, what you lose in fat grams you make up in added sugar and sodium – not necessarily a good trade-off.
